Why Continuo?

Music Teaching is under digital pressure

At Continuo, we believe that teachers are the best way for most people to learn to play music.  Teachers have the ability to apply experience and nuance to provide real time feedback and adjustment to the teaching approach, helping each individual student achieve their goals.

Unfortunately, their students are growing up digital-native, while the teaching environment has barely changed for hundred of years.  At the same time, teachers are competing against a number of digital businesses trying to replace them with a purely digital learning process.

Practising is BORING

Nobody practises enough, or properly.  It is boring.  Without a teacher in the room, you often repeat mistakes, creating muscle memory that then needs un-learning.

Without practice, students don't progress and without progress, they disengage from the whole process and they drop out of music all together.

The Continuo Solution

Continuo's most visible element is an app which guides students through their practising, listens to them play, gives them feedback to make it more productive and gamifies the process to encourage greater engagement.

The app generates a rich data set for teachers to use in their teaching.  Imagine not starting a lesson with "What did you practise this week?", but with "Well done, I see you spent an hour and a half practicing this week.  Bar 54 of the second piece seems to be a sticking point for you.  Shall we start there?"

In the background, Continuo is a teacher support platform, with workflow optimisation, scheduling, invoicing and payments.

Continuo seeks to help teachers keep their students for longer, make more money from their teaching, and increase the number of students staying making music for life.
